Why Were My Packages Grazing in the Yard? 🫣

Image
You ever leave very specific delivery instructions for one important package… and then completely forget those instructions now apply to EVERY future delivery? Because apparently I have. When I ordered my lawn mower, I was trying to be considerate. That thing was heavy, and I didn’t want someone wrestling it onto my porch like they were competing in a CrossFit event. So I thoughtfully updated my delivery instructions to say: “Please leave in the grass.” Simple. Helpful. Efficient. Responsible adult behavior. What I failed to realize was that Amazon apparently treats delivery instructions like an unbreakable blood oath. So days later, I start noticing random packages just… sitting dramatically in my yard. Small boxes. Lightweight envelopes. Completely porch-qualified items. Just abandoned in the grass like they were tiny cardboard cows out to pasture. At first, I was confused. Then it hit me. The mower instructions. The cursed mower instructions. And let me tell you, once you notice it ...

Out for Delivery and Out of My Mind 📦

Let’s talk about the waiting game. Specifically, the emotional rollercoaster that is package delivery day. At first, when you place the order, you’re calm. Mature. Grounded. You tell yourself it will arrive when it arrives. You are a patient adult. You have perspective. Life goes on. The words appear. “Out for Delivery.” Everything changes. You are no longer productive. You are alert. Hyperaware. Every engine sound outside becomes significant. Every truck that passes your street is potentially carrying your treasure. You find yourself peeking through blinds like ...

Amazon Prime, We Need to Talk About These Delivery Expectations 📦

Image
Listen. We need to talk. We, the loyal Amazon Prime people, are going through something right now. And yes, we understand weather exists. We know snow happens. We grasp the concept of freezing temperatures and unsafe roads. We are not monsters. But also… we pay for two-day delivery . Somewhere along the way, “Arriving in 2 days” quietly turned into “Arriving whenever the weather, the universe, and the delivery gods feel like it.” And suddenly we’re staring at tracking updates that say things like Delayed due to weather conditions while the package is three states away, just vibing. Now let me be clear: I do not want anyone driving in unsafe conditions. I don’t want delivery drivers risking life and limb for my paper towels. Safety first. Always. However. It is still deeply confusing when you order something on Monday and Amazon says, Great choice! You’ll get this Saturday. Sir. That is not two days. That is a long weekend commitment . The emotional rollercoaster is real. ...
